The Council
At a recent meeting of the council it was agreed that the Huntingbridge Borough Council funding for the centrally based safety event called 'Safety Stations' would unfortunately have to be withdrawn. Councillor Fred Bates stated that due to the present economic climate the funding just could not be found for this year.
Councillor Michael Tornton stated that he thought this was very short-sighted as it might mean that children were being placed in danger by not taking part in this important educational event.
Councillors agreed that they would consider a lower cost option if this was available ...
Licensing Committee
The liquor licence for the LIFE nightclub is being considered for renewal. The council has received numerous complaints from local residents and there have been many offences in the area. The council have adjourned their decision for a month for a full hearing. All residents are asked to submit letters in support of/objecting to the grant of the licence.
